Team Effectiveness Diagnostic

Understand what’s driving your team’s performance

Team effectiveness is shaped by more than the capability of individual team members. It depends on how effectively the team operates as a collective – from shared purpose, role clarity and trust to decision-making, adaptability and performance under pressure.

Fieri’s Team Effectiveness Diagnostic provides a structured, evidence-led view of both how effectively your team is operating today and its capacity to develop, adapt and sustain performance over time.

Most teams experience the symptoms of underperformance before they understand the underlying causes. The diagnostic helps teams to step back and answer critical questions such as:

  • Where is our team strongest today?
  • What could be limiting our performance?
  • How effectively do we operate under pressure?
  • Do we have the capacity to grow and adapt?
  • Where should we focus development efforts first?

What is a team effectiveness diagnostic?

A team effectiveness diagnostic is a structured way to understand the factors shaping how a team performs together.

Rather than relying on instinct or general perceptions of whether a team is working well, it helps surface the patterns, strengths and gaps that influence day-to-day performance, providing a clearer basis for focused action.

At Fieri, we look at both current capability and developmental capacity, giving teams a view of how effectively they are performing now and how well equipped they are for what comes next.

What does Fieri’s Team Effectiveness Diagnostic measure?

The diagnostic considers 14 critical team behaviours across two interdependent dimensions of team effectiveness.

Delta – the foundations of performance

Delta reflects the team’s current capability – the foundations that enable effective performance today.

  • Shared Purpose
  • Role Clarity & Alignment
  • Trust & Openness
  • Communication
  • Collaboration & Inclusion
  • Routines & Processes
  • Proactive Resilience

Vector – the capacity to develop

Vector reflects the team’s developmental capacity – the behaviours and conditions that enable it to adapt, develop and sustain performance over time.

  • Adaptability & Learning
  • Decision-Making
  • Composure Under Pressure
  • Motivation & Energy
  • Constructive Conflict
  • Future Focus & Vision
  • Supporting Growth of Others
Fieri Delta and Vector model showing current capability and developmental capacity in leadership team effectiveness

Current capability +
developmental capacity

Looking at current performance alone can give an incomplete picture.

Combining Delta + Vector shows both how effectively a team is performing today and how well equipped it is to adapt, develop and sustain performance over time.

Together, Delta + Vector give teams a clearer view of where they are now – and where to focus next.

How does the Team Effectiveness Diagnostic work?

The Team Effectiveness Diagnostic takes a Team 360 approach, building a collective view of how the team is performing rather than assessing individual team members.

1. COMPLETE THE DIAGNOSTIC

Each team member receives a unique link and completes 42 questions across the 14 Delta and Vector behaviours. Responses are anonymous and the diagnostic typically takes 15–20 minutes to complete.

2. ANALYSE THE RESULTS

Responses are brought together into a single team view and analysed by a Fieri expert.

We look beyond the scores to identify development themes, areas where perspectives converge or diverge, underlying causes, potential risks and the priorities likely to make the greatest difference.

3. RECEIVE YOUR TEAM EFFECTIVENESS REPORT

The findings are brought together in a comprehensive report, including:

  • Executive summary and overall team profile
  • Clear visualisation of results
  • Behaviour-level scores and interpretation
  • Cross-theme patterns, risks and underlying causes
  • Clear development priorities and recommendations

The aim is not simply to produce a score. It is to give the team an evidence-led view of what is shaping performance and where to focus next.

From Insight to Action

The real value of a diagnostic comes from what happens next.

Fieri works with teams to understand what sits behind the results and translate the findings into focused action. Depending on what emerges, this might include work around alignment, trust, decision-making, constructive challenge, ways of working or collective leadership.

Looking for a facilitated review of your leadership team?

Our Leadership Team Review combines the Team Effectiveness Diagnostic with expert analysis, a detailed report and a consultant-led 90-minute team debrief.

Your team leaves with a shared understanding of what is shaping performance, three clear priorities and practical recommendations for what to do next.

Where deeper development is needed, we can also design targeted team effectiveness sessions around the priorities identified.

Who is the Team Effectiveness Diagnostic for?

The diagnostic is designed for teams that want a clearer, evidence-led view of how effectively they are operating together.

It can be particularly valuable for teams that are:

  • Navigating significant organisational change or transformation
  • Working through new or shifting strategic priorities
  • Newly formed or experiencing changes in leadership
  • Facing challenges around alignment, trust or decision-making
